About the American University of Nigeria

The only university in Nigeria to use this form of instruction is the distinguished private American University of Nigeria, founded in 2004 and situated in Adamawa, in the country’s northeast.

Most programs at the American University of Nigeria have tuition costs above N1,000,000; it has no religious connections and accepts students from all over the nation with diverse religious backgrounds.

The university’s bachelor’s degree offerings represent engineering, science, arts, management, and social sciences. Due to the university’s lack of religious affiliation, the student body is highly diverse.

Even though there aren’t many students (which isn’t bad), this diversity fosters more robust relationships between students and faculty. Small class size at the university emphasizes student individuality to bring forth the best in each student.

The American University of Nigeria offers its students housing and other top-notch infrastructure.

The Dean of the School of Graduate Studies determines applicants’ compliance with the minimum university requirements.

A successful applicant must have completed their studies at an accredited institution and have a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 3.0 on a scale of 5.0 (or Second Class Lower Division).

Each applicant must have at least one year of work experience, preferably at the mid-level or senior management level, and fulfill all other admissions requirements.

The Graduate Admissions Office needs the following materials from applicants:

An application form that has been completed (download the application form)

  • A diploma with grades that can be verified and the required grade point average
  • Authentic transcripts from every university you attended
  • Copies of each university’s certificates of attendance
  • Letters of Recommendation
  • Proof of application fee payment
  • An up-to-date curriculum vitae
  • A goal statement for yourself

For Undergraduate Students

To be considered for admission to AUN, applicants must have a minimum Jamb score of 160 or the official JAMB cutoff score for the current academic year.

Five (5) credits, including English Language and Mathematics, on no more than two SSCE sittings or an equivalent from a nation that requires another kind of exit exam or standardized test, are also necessary for admissions consideration. Any exceptions are decided upon on a case-by-case basis.

The GCE ‘O’ Level in five subjects, including Mathematics, English Language, Physics, and Chemistry, or the Senior Secondary School final year test, should have been passed at credit level to meet the minimal entry requirements for Engineering and Technology disciplines.

Additionally, candidates must have received a passing score in the UTME. Additionally preferred for candidates are credit-level proficiency in Further Mathematics and Technical Drawing. These candidates would be at an advantage.

Additionally, Bachelor of Laws (LLB Honors) program applicants must have a credit in English Literature.

The grades and scores shown above do not ensure admission to the university. As mentioned above, the prerequisites merely make you eligible for admission consideration; acceptance is not guaranteed.

Applications from students are rigorously reviewed, and those who are selected typically have the best grades and qualifications in the applicant pool.

The primary deciding elements are the applicant’s JAMB scores, WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, IGCSE scores, and SS1, SS2, & SS3 transcripts, which evaluate their entire performance.
