Over the ongoing ASUU strike, the Nigerian Labour Congress intends to hold a nationwide protest. The The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnic SSANIP has instructed its members to participate in this demonstration.
Protests would not have been necessary if the political elite had placed any emphasis on education and the development of the nation, according to an open letter signed by Comrade, Hussaini Yusuf Gwandu, National Secretary of SSANIP.
“The Leadership of our great union warmly commends the display of unity by the organized labor in ensuring a sustainable solution to the recurring industrial crises bedevilling the Nigerian education sector,” states the letter. “
Unfortunately, this widespread demonstration would not have been necessary had the political elite placed any emphasis on education and the advancement of our country.
To ensure long-term peace and harmony in the education sector, we use this platform to urge the government to address any and all gray areas. “We reaffirm our confidence in the Leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress and direct all members of our Union to comply with the Nationwide protest scheduled for Tuesday 26th and Wednesday 27th July 2022.”
