RSUST Postgraduate Admission Form 2022/2023 is Out

This is to inform you that the RSUST Postgraduate Admission Form for the 2022/2023 academic session is out and currently ongoing. Authorities of the Rivers State University of Science and Technology (RSUST), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into Postgraduate Programmes of the university for the 2022/2023 academic session.

RSUST Postgraduate Admission Requirements

Applicants with the qualifications in the under-listed categories shall be eligible for admission into the postgraduate programs; however, candidates must also fulfill the matriculation requirements of Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu-Orowomkwo, Port Harcourt.

A. Postgraduate Diploma

1. Holders of at least a Third Class Degree in the subject area applied for or a Second Class (Lower Division) degree in a related discipline obtained from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other recognized institution.

2. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least lower credit classification or equivalent in a related discipline obtained from a recognized institution.

3. For the Faculty of Engineering, candidates must hold at least a Third Class or Pass a degree in a related discipline from a recognized institution.

4. Candidates for PGD in the Department of Electrical Engineering must be holders of a B.Sc. or B.Tech. Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; Physics with Electronics or Computer Science.

B. Master’s Degree programs

1. Candidates seeking admission into the Full-time/Part-time Master’s degree program must possess a Bachelor’s degree with at least Second Class Lower Division in the relevant discipline.

2. Candidates who hold PGD, PGDE, PGDTE in the relevant discipline or an equivalent Diploma (in Maritime Transport, Marine Engineering or Nautical Studies, Master Mariner, Marine Engineers Class 1) with a CGPA of 3.50 or above (on a five-point grade system) may apply for the Master’s Programmes.

3. Candidates for MSc in Surveying and Geomatics must hold B.Sc/B. Tech in Surveying and Geomatics degree with at least 2nd Class Lower Division or equivalent from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other approved University;

4. Candidates for the M.Ed. degree programs offered in the Faculty of Technical and Science Education/Institute of Education should possess a good Bachelor’s degree (not lower than Second Class Lower Division) in a relevant teaching subject.

C. Doctor of Philosophy Programmes

A candidate for a Ph.D. program shall:

1. Possess a Master’s degree with a CGPA of 3.50 or above, on a five-point grade system, in a relevant discipline, obtained from the Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other recognized institution of higher learning of equivalent status.

2. Candidates for Ph.D. in Surveying and Geomatics must have an M.Sc in Surveying and Geomatics degree with a CGPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale or 60% weighted average from Rivers State University of Science and Technology or any other institution of equivalent
status.

3. Present himself or herself for a qualifying interview, if need be.

No person shall be admitted to a program unless the Postgraduate School Board has approved his/her application on behalf of the Senate and the recommendation of the appropriate Faculty Committee.

Note: Besides the conditions above, a candidate may be required to present himself/herself for a selection test and/or oral interview.

How Much is the RSUST Postgraduate Admission Form?

RSUST Postgraduate application form cost thirty-five thousand naira (N35,500.00) only.

RSU Postgraduate Admission – Duration

• The full-time Postgraduate Diploma programs run for two semesters (minimum) and four semesters (maximum), with or without project writing.
• The full-time Postgraduate Diploma program in Engineering runs for four semesters (minimum) and six semesters (maximum) with the project.
• The full-time Postgraduate Diploma program in Transport Planning and Logistics and Supply Chain Planning runs for three semesters (minimum) and four semesters (maximum).
• The part-time Postgraduate Diploma program in Surveying and Geomatics runs for four semesters (minimum) and six semesters (maximum).
• The full-time Master’s degree program with a dissertation is structured to last for a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of six semesters.
• The full-time Master’s degree program with a dissertation in the Faculty of Engineering is structured to last for a minimum of four semesters and a maximum of six semesters.
• The full-time Master’s degree program in Surveying and Geomatics runs for three semesters (minimum) and six semesters (maximum).
• The part-time Master’s degree program in Surveying and Geomatics runs for four semesters (minimum) and eight semesters (maximum).
• The full-time Master’s degree program in Transport Planning and Logistics and Supply Chain Planning will run for four semesters (minimum) and five semesters (maximum).
• The full-time Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs with a thesis run for six semesters (minimum) and eight semesters (maximum).
• The part-time Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) program in Surveying and Geomatics runs for eight semesters (minimum) and ten semesters (maximum).
• Part-time study, specifically for weekends only, is available for the Shipping Management and Maritime Transport Technology programs for six semesters (minimum) and eight semesters (maximum).
• Part-time study in the Faculty of Engineering is available for Ph.D. programs only and runs for ten semesters (minimum) and twelve semesters (maximum).
• Unless otherwise stated, part-time studies in any Faculty, where it is available, will take twice the duration allowed for the corresponding full-time programs. Such part-time Ph.D. programs will last for ten semesters (minimum) and twelve semesters (maximum).
• The sandwich Postgraduate Diploma programs in Education run for a minimum duration of two long vacations and a maximum of four long vacations.
• The sandwich Master’s programs with a dissertation in Education run for a minimum duration of three long vacations and a maximum of six long vacations.
• The sandwich Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs with a thesis in Education run for a minimum duration of six long vacations and a maximum of twelve long vacations.

How to Apply for RSUST Postgraduate Admission Form

Applications for admission to any postgraduate program shall be made online by logging onto www.rsu.edu.ng and making an e-payment of thirty thousand nairas (N30,000.00) only, using Interswitch verve–enabled cards. Application forms should be completed online, downloaded, and hard copies submitted to the Secretary, Postgraduate School along with the following:

1. Photocopies of Certificates.
2. Certified academic transcripts. (It is the responsibility of applicants to ensure that copies of their academic transcripts are forwarded under confidential cover directly to The Secretary, Postgraduate School, Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt).
3. Letter of reference from three referees, including one from a previous academic institution, stating that the applicant is qualified to undertake advanced studies and research and that he (the Referee) is confident that the applicant will benefit from the training.

For Ph.D. applicants, brief research proposals on their intended areas of study should also accompany the application forms.
