MARITIME ACADEMY OF NIGERIA POST-UTME 2022: CUT-OFF POINT, ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION DETAILS

FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES, OTUKPO RELEASE 2022/2023 ADMISSION EXERCISE

The online registration for the Maritime Academy of Nigeria Post-UTME screening exercise for admission into National Diploma (ND) programs for the 2022/2023 Academic Session will commence from September 12, 2022 to October 11, 2022.

The duration of National Diploma (ND) programs is two (2) years, divided into four (4) semesters.

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Eligible candidates

Candidates who choose Maritime Academy of Nigeria as their first (1st) choice institution in the 2022 UTME and scored above the required cut-off as stated below are eligible for post-UTME registration.

  1. UTME cut off point

a. Nautical Science – 175

b. Marine Engineering – 175

c. Electrical/Electronic Engineering -175

d. Maritime transport and business studies – 160

  1. MODE OF CORRESPONDENCE

Candidates seeking admission to the Academy must have a functional and accessible electronic mail address (E-mail) and mobile phone number for correspondence. Candidates are not required to present themselves physically, except upon invitation through the website publication and email/text messages.

  1. O-LEVEL SUBJECTS AND UTME SUBJECTS COMBINATION

i. SEAUTIC SCIENCE

O-LEVEL SUBJECTS

Applicants must hold a Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include.

  • Mathematics
  • english language,
  • Physics
  • geography,
  • and any other related Science subjects obtained within the last Five years in NOT MORE THAN TWO SESSIONS.

UTME Subject Combination:

o English language

o Mathematics

o Geography

o Physics

ii. MARINE ENGINEERING AND ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING

O Level Subjects

Applicants must hold a Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include:

  • Mathematics
  • english language,
  • physics,
  • Chemistry,
  • and any other related Science subjects obtained within the last FIVE years in NOT MORE THAN TWO SESSIONS

UTME Subject Combination:

o English language

o Mathematics

o Chemistry

o Physics

iii. MARITIME TRANSPORT AND BUSINESS STUDIES

O Level Subjects

Applicants must hold a Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent with at least FIVE CREDIT passes in subjects which must include:

  • Mathematics,
  • english language,
  • Economy,
  • Geography / Commerce.
  • and any of Geography, Commerce, Government, Financial Accounting and Business Management obtained within the last FIVE years in NOT MORE THAN TWO SITTINGS.

UTME Subject Combination:

o English language

o Mathematics

o Economy

o Geography/Commerce/Government/ Principles of Accounting

  1. PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL FITNESS

As a result of the particular requirements of the Institution and the maritime industry as well as International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) as amended which obliges all seafarers to be physically and mentally fit to work in the maritime industry, all applicants are expected to be physically and mentally fit to withstand the rigors/challenges of the cadetship training. Accordingly, shortlisted candidates will be required to present themselves for physical and medical screening when invited.

Candidate must print application form for medical examination (Form M) from the application portal. This form must be duly filled and signed before uploading it on the portal.

The candidate is required to undergo the following medical tests at any government hospital and upload medical results on the application portal.

PCV

VDRL

HBV

HIV1/2

FASTING BLOOD SUGAR (FBS)

PT (Pregnancy Test for Women)

URINALYSIS

GENOTYPE

BLOOD GROUP

The medical test must be performed within the period of the online registration.

The results uploaded on the portal are subject to further confirmation when invited for Screening/Admission.

  1. Marital Status Applicants must be single and will remain single for the duration of the program.
  2. Age restriction
  • Candidates applying for Nautical Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and Marine Engineering must be between the ages of 16 and 21 as on 31 October 2022. Candidates applying for Maritime Transport and Business Studies must be between the ages of 16 and 25 as on 31 October 2022
  1. APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Application form is available online at: www.maritimeacademy.gov.ng.

Eligible candidate must take the following steps to start their registration procedure:

  1. Click on Admission � HND/ND Registration Portal
  • Login with UTME number as username and Jamb score as password
  • Generate a RRR and print the payment slip
  • Go to any of the banks of your choice to make payment using Remita payment platforms
  • Return to the Academy Portal to complete your registration.

Application portal opens: 12 September 2022

Application portal closes: 11 October 2022.
