JAMB UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, note that the English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Banking and Finance (Mgt) under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences in the institutions listed above are:

Mathematics, one Social Science subject and any other subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) CRESCENT, KSU, KWASU and UNIBEN require Economics, Mathematics and any other subject.

(ii) NTNU accepts Economics/Principle of Accounting and any two Arts or Social Sciences subjects

(iii) BABCOCK accepts Commerce in lieu of Mathematics

(iv) SALEM and WESTERN-DEL require Mathematics, Economics and any other Social Science subject.

(v) AL-HIKMAH accepts Commerce in lieu of Mathematics or Economics.

(vi) FUNAAB requires Mathematics, Economics and one of Principles of Account, Commerce, Government.

(vii) UNIABUJA requires Economics/Commerce, English, Mathematics and any other Social Science/ Commercial Subject.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Banking and Finance (Mgt) as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) COVENANT requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, one science subject from the following (Biology, Health/ General Science, Agricultural Science, Physics and Chemistry) and either of Geography, Government, Accounting, Book Keeping and Commerce.

(ii) COVENANT for Marketing requires English Language, Mathematics, Economics one of Government or History and any Science subject from Biology, Health/General Science, Agricultural Science, Physics and Chemistry.

(iii) GO requires Five SSCE credit passes in not more than two sittings in subjects which include English Language, Mathematics and Economics

(iv)WESTERN-DEL (for Business Administration) requires five SSCE credit passes including English Language, Mathematics, Economics or Accounts, one other Social Science subject and any one other subject of choice

(v) NDU (Banking, Finance and Insurance) requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Economics, and any two of the following; Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics

(vi) NDU (For Office Management Technology) requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Economics, and three other subjects.

(vii) RHEMA accepts National Diploma in Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Financial Studies, Agricultural Economics or NCE in Economics/Business Studies with UTME requirements.

(viii) CRESCENT requires five (5) O ’level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any two of the following: Commerce, Geography and Statistics.

(ix) FUNAAB requires two credit passes from any of Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Government or Geography.

(x) SOUTHWESTERN for Business Administration requires two of Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography, and Statistics as other relevant subjects

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Banking and Finance (Mgt) as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Accounting or Economics and one other subject.

(ii) NCE with passes at merit level in relevant subjects.

(iii) ND at credit level.

(iv) Foundation International exam such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA, GPFA.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) GO accepts;
(a) for Accounting BSc, BA or HND in other disciplines, ND (Upper Credit) in Accounting, Foundation of ICAN.
(b) For Business Administration two ‘A’ level passes in Economics and any one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government. BSc, BA or HND in other disciplines, ND (Upper Credit) in Business Administration.
(c) For Marketing two ‘A’ level passes in Economics and any one of Mathematics, Statistics, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Agric Science, Accounting, Business Management, History and Government. BSc, BA or HND in other disciplines, ND (Upper Credit) in Marketing.
(d) For Public AdministrationBA, BSc or HND or other disciplines, ND (Upper Credit) pass in Public or Business Administration

(ii) FUNAAB requires A’ level passes in Accounting and at least one of Mathematics, Business Management, Economics and Government plus UTME requirement. It accepts ND (Upper Credit) in Accounting or Business Administration. It does not accept NCE.

(iii) AJAYI requires A’ level pass in Accounts. Accepts National Diploma in Accounting, Banking and Finance or Business Management from a recognised institution. and

(iv) NTNU accepts any two A’ level passes in Arts or Social Sciences subjects, ND/HND (lower credit) or NCE (merit) in relevant fields

(v) CRESCENT accepts;
(a) Two ‘A’ Level passes to include Mathematics and either Economics or Account.
(b) IJMB at acceptable grades.
(c) NCE, ND, HND and approved equivalent with at least lower credit may be admitted to the appropriate level.

(vi) LASU requires two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Accounting, Economics, Business Management, Mathematics and Statistics. LASU accept ‘A’ Level pass in Government. ND/HND not admissible for Direct Entry.

(vii) BIU requires in addition to the O’ level requirements specified, a minimum of two relevant subjects passed at GCE Advanced level or NCE (3 merits) or National Diploma in the relevant field, not below credit level.

(viii) UNICAL accepts ND in Banking and Finance.

(ix) UNIBEN – in addition to UTME requirement, requires two ‘A’ level passes including Economics; ND (Upper credit) in Accounting, Business Studies or Financial Studies; HND (Lower Credit) in Accounting, Financial Studies, Business Studies or Banking and Finance; NCE (overall merit) with credit pass in Economics or Business Studies; Associate Institute of Bankers (Part 1). It also accepts HND Lower credit or Merit in relevant Discipline.

(x) BELLS accepts two A’ Level passes in any two of Chemistry, Economics, Geography and Mathematics

(xi) WESTERN-DEL accepts (For Accounting)
a) Two ‘A’ Level passes including Economics and one other subject.
b) NCE with at least merit passes in relevant subjects.
c) National Diploma with at least lower credit passes in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration. Intermediate passes in ICAN, ACCA, ICMA and CIBN examinations

(xii) WESTERN-DEL accepts (For Business Administration)
a) Two ‘A’ passes in Economics and one other Social Science subject.
b) National Diploma in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Marketing or Insurance, NCE in Business Studies

(xiii) CALEB accepts ND at Credit level in Accounting, Banking, Financial Studies, or ATS, ICAN may be considered for admission by direct entry provided they have the UME subjects at one sitting.

(xiv) BAYERO does not accept Chemistry, Physics, and Agricultural Science and History.

(xv) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Mathematics, Economics, and any two other subjects in not more than two sittings.

(xvi) SOUTHWESTERN accepts:
(a) NCE with passes at merit level in relevant subjects.
(b) SND in Management, Marketing, Accounting and Banking/Finance with a minimum of ‘B’ overall average.
(c) Two ‘A’ level passes in Accounting or Economics and anyone other subjects.
(d) IJMB/NCE/ND/Banking Certificate/ CIBN course or approved equivalent.

(xvii) UNIABUJA accepts: Two A level credit passes in Economics and any of Social Science, and Management or ND with Upper Credit in relevant discipline in addition to the ‘O’ level requirements
