This is to notify you that the Islamic Development Bank scholarship for members’ countries is ongoing. The Islamic development bank together with the World Academy of Science (TWAS) in Trieste, Italy, is offering is providing scholarship opportunities for 2020.

Islamic Development Bank Scholarship

This Scholarship is part of the developmental initiatives led by IsDB to foster technology and knowledge sharing among its member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries.

The Islamic Development Bank Scholarship is designed to attract talented male and female students. And also, build the right competencies required to empower communities and achieving national and global development plans including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

For Undergraduate 

The Islamic development bank scholarship Programme is open for academically meritorious students with a strong desire to engage in social services and community development after graduation.  The prospective candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Citizens of any of the IsDB member countries or Muslim communities in non-member countries;
  • Completed high school with minimum good grades in major subjects or currently studying in the first year at one of the top public/government universities in their own countries or in member countries having an agreement with the IsDB (Malaysia, Morocco, and Turkey);
  • Not in receipt of any other scholarship; and
  • Be medically fit and willing to undergo medical tests after selection

For Masters

The Programme is open for academically meritorious students and mid-career professionals from member countries and Muslim Communities in non-member countries who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Citizens of any of the IsDB member countries or Muslim communities in non-member countries;
  • Be a graduate with a grade above “Good” in his/her bachelor studies.
  • Not in receipt of any other scholarship; and
  • Be medically fit and willing to undergo medical tests after selection.

For PhD & Post- Doctoral 

The Islamic Development Bank scholarship is designed to help promising and outstanding scholars from member countries and Muslim communities in non-member countries who meet the following criteria:

  1. For PhD Study;
  • Students should have a Master’s degree in one of the fields of study of the program.
  • Have a minimum (“Very Good”) academic standing;
  • Preferably have work and/or research experience.
  • Applicants should have a research proposal in one of the fields of study of the program stating
  • it’s scientific and development relevance to the community/country.
  • Be medically fit and be willing to undergo
    medical tests after selection.
  1. Post-doctoral research 
  • Applicants should have a PhD degree in one of the approved fields of the program.
  • Have a minimum (“Very Good”) academic standing.
  • Students should have not less than two (2) years of experience in the field of research. 
  • Must have a record of publications/research in the same field.
  • Have a research proposal in one of the fields of study of the program stating its scientific and development relevance to the community/country.
  • Be medically fit and be willing to undergo medical tests after selection

Obligations From Candidates

Candidates granted the Scholarship are expected to:

  1. Sign the IsDB’s prescribed Scholarship Agreement stating their commitment to their studies and serve their communities and countries upon graduation;
  2. Devote themselves to their studies on a full-time basis and without interruption and provide the IsDB with progress reports on their studies on a regular basis;
  3. Not to seek or accept other scholarship or remunerated work during their study under the Programme;
  4. Respect the laws of the country of study and maintain good personal and professional conduct consistent with the rules, regulations, and objectives of the Programme and the overall mission of the IsDB;
  5. Register and join the IsDB Alumni after graduation to network with other alumnus and keep updating the IsDB about their progress and achievements in their communities/countries.
  6. Refund 50% of the loan after graduation and secure gainful employment, in easy instalments, to the Local Education Trust Fund (LETF) established by the IsDB in their countries.
