The universities of the Coimbra group are happy to offer a short-term visit (usually 1 to a maximum of 3 months) to enable scholars to conduct research in which they are involved in their home institution and to assist them in making academic and research contacts to establish.

The universities of the Coimbra group are happy to offer a short-term visit (usually 1 to a maximum of 3 months) to enable scholars to conduct research in which they are involved in their home institution and to assist them in making academic and research contacts to establish.

Application deadline: 16 April 2021 Midnight (Brussels time)

Suitable countries: All African countries except Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia (applicants from these countries are eligible under the Scholarship program for young researchers from the European environment).

Value of award: Successful students have access to excellent academic knowledge in quality facilities. The scholarships include financial support for tuition, living expenses, air fares, etc.

Eligible: Interested applicants should;

  • born on or after January 1, 1976
  • nationals and current residents of a country in sub-Saharan Africa
  • current staff members of a university or equivalent higher education institution in sub-Saharan Africa
  • of doctoral / postdoctoral or equivalent status, although some universities offer grants for students at master’s level
